https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/8254

Soccer in Mexico is much more than a sport; it is a pillar of national identity, rooted in tradition and passed down through generations. Teams like América and Chivas generate passionate communities. The national team unites the country in international competitions, contrasting with the individual passion for clubs in Liga MX, one of the strongest in Latin America, which also includes a growing women's league. In addition to its economic impact, soccer functions as a social tool, fostering values and offering opportunities to marginalized communities. The World Cups held in Mexico have left an indelible mark, and the participation of Mexican clubs in international tournaments elevates their global prestige. Ultimately, soccer is a cultural and social phenomenon that will continue to shape Mexican passion.
Mía Pizarro

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/8136

Physical exercise, especially strength training, has health benefits, including increased muscle mass. Adequate protein intake was essential to optimise these effects, especially leucine, an essential amino acid. Although proteins of animal origin have been considered superior, plant proteins, when combined, could also be effective. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a protein supplement derived from immature cowpea pods on plasma leucine concentration in young adults after a strength training session. Ten healthy men took part in the study, performing strength training under four conditions: control, exercise, supplementation and supplementation with exercise. Blood samples were taken to analyse leucine. The supplementation consisted of 150g of mashed cowpea pods, with an estimated protein content of between 15g and 18g. Leucine levels varied significantly between conditions. Exercise alone maintained levels for longer, while supplementation resulted in an earlier but smaller increase. The combination of supplementation and exercise showed a trend of progressive reduction, suggesting that the vegetable protein may not have provided enough leucine to optimise the training response. It was concluded that cowpea protein supplementation did not significantly increase plasma leucine after training, possibly due to slower digestion and a less complete amino acid profile. Additional strategies, such as combining with other amino acids or carbohydrates, may have been necessary to optimise the use of plant proteins in strength training.
Ethel MachergianyJorge SoaresLuíz AzevedoCatarina AbrantesAna BarrosMaria Paula Mota

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/7903

The present article has two objectives, the first corresponds to reconstruct the genesis of the Luis Navarro Sports Talent Liceo and the second is oriented to analyze the participation of the student-athletes of this Institution in the VI Central American and Caribbean School Games 2023. A documentary investigation was carried out, collecting information in physical, digital documents and personal interviews to corroborate the facts. As a conclusion of the study, it was determined that the first sports talent school began in Caracas in 1985, designed by Professor Francisco "Paco" Diez, later in 1986 the Board of Directors of the National Sports Institute gave it the eponym German Villalobos Bravo. Regarding the participation of student-athletes from the Luis Navarro Sports Talent School, the delegation contributed 25% of the medals for the country, totaling 28 gold, 20 silver and 14 bronze, with an average age of 16 years, broken down into 14 females and 16 males. This significant contribution contributed to the overall success of the Venezuelan delegation. These results will allow us to visualize the potential of these participants in the future, thus representing the next generation of the country.
Jesús Alberto Navarro HernándezCarlyla Ramos DearcosBárbara José FigueroaRodolfo Antonio Hernández Subero

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/7883

Both strength and speed are physical abilities that have been partially analyzed by working them separately, however, Power reflects the relationship between Force and Speed (P = F x V) which recognizes the amount of force generated in an activity where there is a speed. The relationship of Force-speed (F-V) and Power-speed (P-V), underpin the Force-Power-Speed profiles, characterized by the maximum mechanical capacities of the neuromuscular system of the lower limbs in various sports. This study focuses on soccer, where homogeneity in training is reflected, assuming that its athletes have the same conditions; a situation that does not favor the development and individual potential of each soccer player; therefore. The main objective of the research is to describe the effect of an individualized training plan, based on explosive strength (Strength-Speed) on the power of soccer players. A quantitative approach is used, with case study guidelines, with a sample of two young Chilean soccer players, who participated in individualized training plans; concluding that individualized work obtains benefits at levels of strength, contraction speed and greater muscular power, since the positive increase in the power levels of both young Chilean soccer players participating in the study is evident, thus favoring relevant qualities in this sport discipline. The results obtained contribute to the achievement of greater displacement (sprint) at the time of competing, reaching greater muscle tension and speed in them.
Waldo Sebastián Fernández CórdovaFelipe Hernández SanhuezaPatricio Andrés Morales MurgasAlicia del Carmen Contreras Mu

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/8139

The essay aims to problematize the epistemological concepts of inclusive education, linking corporality, its conceptions and movement as a central axis in the development of physical education and how, from the diversity of bodies and movements, one is in the world. This will be followed by some insights into how physical activity for all plays a key role in achieving pecuniary and non-pecuniary benefits for students and their families and the potential socio-economic consequences for the inhabited place and the national context; to then conclude with the various political cultural conceptions of what difference and diversity mean in the physical education class. The main conclusions point to the recognition of the conceptions of normality and difference as assumptions that bias and perpetuate inequalities in the subject of physical education and in educational systems.
Belen Fierro-SaldañaCarolina Rodríguez-Meneses

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/8149

The objective of this article is to study the role of the Jorge Ubico regime between 1931 and 1944 in the use of athletics in the political subjugation of the aborigines and the visibility of women. The above was done by extracting the information required in the newspaper El Imparcial during the years of study. The interest in centralizing, directing and modernizing sports activity and physical education in Guatemala led the Ubico regime to use athletics for the political subjugation of the aborigines and the visibility of Guatemalan women athletes in the national public sphere. The athletic triumphs of the aborigines legitimized their submission to the national project, but not their assimilation into the ladino world. Their victories allow us to point out that, at least symbolically, athletics was used as a means to resist the domination that had been imposed on them. The participation of girls and women in interscholastic games helped make Guatemalan women athletes visible in the national public sphere. Which marks the beginning of a process where Guatemalan women begin to appropriate sports practices, where the execution of sports went from being a hobby for her -without discipline or training- to a cultural practice that allowed her to be the owner of her body, and herself, setting personal goals, which gave her greater recognition in national society and overcame false conceptions of gender.
Chester Rodolfo Urbina Gaitán

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/7826

Flexibility and joint mobility play crucial roles in the health and physical performance of adolescents. With the growing interest in dance as a form of exercise and extracurricular activity, this study aims to compare flexibility and health-related joint mobility between adolescent dance practitioners and non-practitioners. The sample was intentionally selected and consisted of 20 female adolescents, aged 15 years, divided into two groups: Control (GC), with 10 non-dancers, and Dance (GD), with 10 dancers who had practiced for at least one year. Flexibility of the hamstring muscles was assessed using the sit-and-reach test, and hip joint mobility was measured by goniometry. Statistical analysis included Shapiro-Wilk tests (normality) and Student’s t-test for independent samples. The results showed that the dance group exhibited greater flexibility (GC=40.9 cm; GD=52.4 cm, p=0.001) and better results in several joint mobility tests: internal rotation of the right hip (GC=49; GD=51, p=0.002), flexion of the right hip with the knee flexed (GC=59.4; GD=62.2, p=0.007), and abduction of the left hip (GC=63.6; GD=68.8, p=0.001). It is concluded that dance practice is associated with greater flexibility and better joint mobility of the lower limbs in adolescents, promoting greater physical health benefits.
Guilherme de Oliveira dos SantosRichard Willian Machado dos SantosJosiano Guilherme Puhle

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/8007

In recent years, scientific interest in the psychological dimension of athletes has grown significantly. However, there is still little knowledge about how these individuals reintegrate into society after the early end of their careers. In view of this, this study seeks to map the existing literature on the psychosocial impact of premature abandonment of sporting careers in soccer athletes, identifying gaps and directing future research on the subject. This is a scoping review that aims to answer the following research question: What is the psychosocial impact of early career abandonment on soccer players? To this end, scientific databases were analyzed and specific criteria applied to the selection of studies. Initially, 312 articles were pre-selected, of which only four met the eligibility criteria. The research protocol was registered on the Open Science Framework (OSF) platform. The results show that, despite the relevance of the topic, the psychological and social issues faced by former athletes are still largely neglected in the sports world. As a result, there is a significant gap in knowledge about the challenges faced by these individuals and their processes of adaptation and reintegration into society. These findings reinforce the need for further scientific research and the implementation of support strategies that facilitate the transition to new professional and academic opportunities, promoting a more structured and humanized detachment from the sporting environment.
Paulo Otacilio de Carvalho JuniorNeide Aparecida Micelli DomingosRandolfo dos Santos JuniorAna Lúcia da Silva Coelho

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/7852

Performance in vertical jumps, such as the Squat Jump (SJ) and Counter Movement Jump (CMJ), shows a strong correlation with sprint tests. However, there is a scarcity of research focusing on medium-level sprinters in Curitiba that explores the relationship between vertical jump metrics and performance in the 30-meter sprint. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between vertical jump metrics (SJ and CMJ) and performance in the 30-meter sprint test among sprinters. This was an observational, analytical, and cross-sectional study. Sixteen sprinters from Curitiba, with a mean age of 22.8 (±1.77) years and an average time of 3.27 seconds (±0.12 seconds) in the 30-meter sprint, performed SJ and CMJ tests using a CEFISE Jump System Contact Mat. A Photocell System measured the 30-meter sprint times. The agreement and reliability of the jump and sprint attempts were calculated using the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC). Data analysis was conducted using Jamovi software version 2.3.38, with a significance level of 5%. Statistically significant and strong correlations were found between the jump heights in SJ and CMJ, as well as between power per kilogram of body mass. It was concluded that the metrics from the SJ and CMJ jumps are not related to performance in the 30-meter sprint test and that relative strength, along with power, should be considered by coaches in training planning.
Vidal Palacios CalderónEdson Antônio TanhofferClaudia Maria Sallai TanhofferMatheus Souza dos SantosAna Carolina Vieira DelfinoMaicon Ambrósio de SouzaChristian de Santana Leite

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/8016

Introduction: Body dissatisfaction is a complex phenomenon that affects mental health and well-being, and is influenced by social, cultural, and personal factors. Objectives: To analyze body dissatisfaction in the university context, identifying the factors that shape the perception of self-image and their implications for students' mental health. Methodology: This is a narrative review of the literature based on the analysis of books, articles, and publications indexed in databases such as SciELO, PubMed, Medline, and Google Scholar. The selection followed criteria of relevance to the topic in Brazil, prioritizing studies on body dissatisfaction in young university students, body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), and perception of body image. The textual production was structured in two axes: the first addresses the prevalence and determining factors of body dissatisfaction; while the second discusses the transition to more serious conditions, such as BDD, analyzing risk factors and intervention and prevention strategies. Results and discussion: The growing body dissatisfaction, influenced by factors such as media, social networks and aesthetic standards, impacts mental health, especially among university students. Studies indicate that women, especially young and overweight women, are more prone to body image distortion, with implications for eating disorders and psychological disorders. The pandemic has intensified the use of social networks, exacerbating these problems. Conclusion: Body dissatisfaction among young university students is a growing problem, affecting mental health and academic performance. Holistic and multidisciplinary interventions are essential to promote physical and mental well-being.
Gláucio Oliveira da GamaClaudio Oliveira da GamaNancy Vieira FerreiraEdilson Raimundo de CastroJefferson Portela SilveiraAgnaldo José Lopes

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/7731

The National Electronic Journal of Physical Education (RENEF) is a publication of the Physical Education course at the prestigious Universidade Estadual de Montes Claros (UNIMONTES). It was created in 2009, but only implemented in 2011. It is published every six months and its mission is to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of human movement, involving areas such as Physical Education, sports, physical and mental well-being, and other related areas. The objective of this study was to verify the theme and content of the articles published by RENEF, from its creation to the present day (2011 to 2023). The research is characterized by a documentary research with a mixed approach, where data analysis was carried out through the content analysis proposed by Bardin. According to the data collection, it was observed that, of the 94 articles published in the RENEF journal, 418 keywords were identified, which were later coded and classified into six categories and/or subareas of Physical Education, resulting in the majority (58.13%) of the keywords being related to the subareas: Pedagogical and Sociocultural, totaling 124 words (29.7%), with this in first place and, in second place, the subareas Physical Activity and Health, with 119 keywords (28.5%). Thus, it was evident that the content of the RENEF articles has themes related to the subareas “Pedagogical and Sociocultural” and “Physical Activity and Health” of Physical Education and that a considerable percentage of authors do not make a good choice regarding keywords during the production of their article(s).
Matheus Vinicius Queiroz e BarbosaAmário Lessa JúniorAndré Luiz Gomes CarneiroGeraldo Magela Durães

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/7911

The study investigated perceptions of ageism, with the primary aim of identifying knowledge about the term "ageism" and the experiences of age discrimination among older adults participating in a physical exercise program at the Faculty of Physical Education of the University of Brasília, Federal District. The research, with a quantitative approach, was conducted through an online questionnaire, yielding 42 valid responses. The results indicate that 78.57% of participants were familiar with the term "ageism," while 21.43% had never heard of it. Additionally, 62.5% reported experiencing prejudice in various contexts, such as work, commerce, family environments, and healthcare services. These findings reinforce the prevalence of ageism and align with previous research, which identifies this form of discrimination at individual, interpersonal, and institutional levels. The study highlights the need for public policies and educational campaigns to combat ageism and promote an inclusive and dignified perspective on aging. Although Brazil has laws protecting older adults, such as the Statute of the Elderly and the National Health Policy for Older Adults, the implementation of these regulations remains slow, compromising the effectiveness of these actions. The study concludes that intergenerational actions and awareness campaigns are essential to ensure respect and inclusion of older adults in society.
Sabrina Fernandes GonçalvesMaria da Glória David Silva CostaSandra Regina GomesMarisete Peralta Safons

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/8023

This study addressed the implications of psychomotor skills as a field of intervention for the care of an autistic student with high levels of support. The objective was to determine how the indicated inclusive system of psychomotor activities (ISPA) influenced his personal autonomy (PA). A case study was conducted, with volunteer sampling, whose methodology of analysis was guided by grounded theory, to elucidate the impact of the implementation of an ISPA on PA. The results showed the emergence of a theory whose central category is PA as an indicator of integral development, with substantive categories comprising four concepts: enhancing factors, conditioning factors, acquired experiences and behavioral manifestations. The associations identified revealed significant impacts generated by and on the categories. The development of the student's PA and the role assumed by the Physical Education teacher in the ISPA converge with scientific perspectives on autonomy as a category that represents more than executive independence. In conclusion, the ISPA designed generates a significant favorable impact on PA, with improvements that are not restricted to physical capacities and motor skills, since they also foster the student's capacity for adaptation, communication and active participation in different contexts, generating, in turn, a favorable impact on his or her integral development, communication and active participation in different contexts, generating, in turn, a favorable impact on his or her integral development.
Alcides Wilfrido Mora VeraFabián Andrés Contreras JáureguiGiceya de la Caridad Maqueira Caraballo

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/7838

The purpose of this article is to study the historical evolution of cycling in Costa Rica from 1950 to 1975, that is, before the start of the National Sports Games in 1976. Costa Rican cycling in those years was practiced on the main roads of the capital and the Central Valley because the best races for its execution were located there. The small and poor participation in international competitions allows us to affirm that this sport had an incipient development and with little sporting modernization. Cyclists such as the veteran Evangelista Chavarría stood out along with other riders such as José Antonio Cairol, Héctor Masis, Emilio Artavia, José Luis Sánchez, Saturnino Rustrián, José Manuel Soto and Carlos Alvarado among others.
Chester Rodolfo Urbina Gaitán

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/7680

The blood flow restriction (BFR) technique has been used to improve hemodynamics and muscle hypertrophy, but the combination of BFR with other training methods is a knowledge gap. Therefore, the aim of the study is to analyze the acute effect of the combination of BFR and German volume training (GVT) on hemodynamic and hypertrophic measurements (muscle pump) in recreationally trained men. Ten men participated in the study (25.5±6.1 years; 81.5±7.3 kg; 1.73±0.06 m; 27.2±2.4 kg*m²), who were subjected to randomized with an interval between sessions of 5-7 days. In this way, three protocols were performed: GVT plus BFR at forty percent of 1RM=GVT+BFR 40%; GVT at forty percent of 1RM=GVT 40%; GVT at eighty percent of 1RM=GVT 80%, with each protocol being conducted with biceps curl exercises. Hemodynamic measurements were analyzed [(systolic and diastolic blood pressure (DBP)], heart rate in the pre-test moments, immediately after, 15 and 30 minutes later. Sarcoplasmic hypertrophy (muscle pump) was evaluated through perimetry in the pre- and post-intervention moments. All protocols significantly increased hemodynamic measurements (p<0.05) and all protocols generated a hypotensive effect on diastolic blood pressure (p<0.05). All protocols increased sarcoplasmic hypertrophy (p<0.05). It is concluded that the protocols promoted a hypotensive effect on DBP and increased hemodynamic measures within safety standards, also generating a muscle pump.
Ykalo Iago Aciole de OliveiraDiego Almeida de OliveiraAna Beatriz Fernandes Dias de CarvalhoEdson Pedro Fidelis do NascimentoErick Lourran Rodrigues de OliveiraSabrina Cartaxo Lacerda Mendes da SilvaElyakym Alvarenga Terto VieiraTheodan Stephenson Cardoso LeiteJean Paulo Guedes DantasGabriel Rodrigues Neto

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/7768

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the rest-pause method in inducing muscular hypertrophy through a review of the current scientific evidence. Three research repositories (PubMed, Taylor & Francis Online, and SciELO) were used to identify relevant articles. Six studies that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed. The results suggest that the rest-pause method is effective for muscular hypertrophy only if it induces a higher training volume compared to traditional methods. However, more research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms by which rest-pause promotes muscle growth and to determine whether this effect is due to a specific physiological response to the method or simply to the increase in total training volume.
Angel Alexander Becerra BarriosRené de Jesús Viloria Juarez

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/7807

Stretching and flexionament are distinct activities, not only in name, but also in the physiological effects generated, in the perform form, and in the reasons for doing it. Stretching is a technique where occurs increase in joint range of motion until the normal limit of the joint. Flexionament is the increase of joint range of motion to the maximum limit. This review aims to show the differences between stretching and flexionament, both in terms of the definition of each one, the physiological changes generated, and the difference in execution, furthermore, it to shows why and when to apply each one same. This review had as inclusion criteria articles that approached stretching or/and flexionament, carry in consideration your definitions, or the physiological effects promoted by same, or the execution form of each one, in addition to the factors that can interfere with each one of the same. Flexibility can be negatively or positively affected by numerous factors that can be both endogenous as exogenous. The flexionament should not be done before or after of training. Stretching can be performed either before or after of the exercises. It can be concluded that both the stretching and flexionament are activities that differ, both in the definition, form of execution and the physiological effects generated. Therefore, the professionals must to seek knowledge about the subjects covered here so that there is a correct understanding of the same, and thus they can apply stretching or flexionament at the appropriate moment, and correctly.
Carlos Alberto de Souza Filho

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/7853

The height in Squat Jump (SJ) and Counter Movement Jump (CMJ) vertical jumps is widely used as a metric to assess lower body power. However, few studies have investigated the correlation between the metrics of these jumps and performance in the 30-meter test. This study aimed to analyze the correlation between vertical jumps and performance in the 30-meter test in university students. This is an observational, analytical, and cross-sectional study. Thirty-one male university students participated, with a mean age of 19.7±1.51 years, height of 177±5.97 cm, and body mass of 74.3±13.5 kg. Participants performed three trials of SJ and CMJ on a contact mat, while a photocell system measured the time in the 30-meter test. A non-parametric Spearman correlation analysis was conducted using the Jamovi software (version 2.3.38), with a significance level set at 5%. The results indicated strong negative and statistically significant correlations between the time in the 30-meter test and the height of the SJ (r = -0.71, p<0.001), as well as with the relative power (W/kg) of this jump (r = -0.71, p<0.001). It is concluded that the height and relative power (W/kg) in the SJ jump should be considered the main variables for monitoring lower body power in university students, as these metrics are strongly associated with better performance in the 30-meter test.
Vidal Palacios CalderónEdson Antônio TanhofferClaudia Maria Sallai TanhofferMatheus Souza dos SantosAna Carolina Vieira DelfinoMaicon Ambrósio de SouzaChristian de Santana Leite

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/7864

Appropriate eating habits and personalized nutritional strategies combined with strength training can optimize metabolic pathways, enhance strength gains, and improve body composition. The present study aims to characterize and analyze how professional nutritional support influences the dietary profile and energy balance (EB) of strength-trained women. This cross-sectional study includes 64 strength-trained women divided into four groups: HyperWith (nutritional support, hypertrophy objective), WLossWith (nutritional support, weight loss objective), HyperWithout (no nutritional support, hypertrophy objective), and WLossWithout (no nutritional support, weight loss objective). Dietary profile and total energy expenditure (TEE) were assessed using a 24-hour food recall and physical activity diary. Statistical analysis was conducted using one-way ANOVA (α=0.05), followed by Tukey's post hoc test to identify group differences. The TEE, energy intake, and macronutrient intake were recorded and compared. No significant difference in TEE was found between groups, though individual variations were observed. Statistically significant differences (p<0.05) were noted in EB, total calories, and macronutrients. The HyperWith group had a significantly higher mean total caloric value than WLossWith (p=0.006) and WLossWithout (p=0.011), with significant differences in EB between WLossWith and HyperWith (p=0.006) and between HyperWith and WLossWithout (p=0.008). HyperWith showed higher means of carbohydrates, proteins (p<0.001), and lipids (p=0.044). The study emphasizes the importance of professional nutritional support for strength-trained women aiming for weight loss or hypertrophy, finding that dietary profiles and EB were partially aligned with recommendations, particularly among those receiving support.
Julia Pelli CanhestroAna Luísa Domingues CarvalhaesFrancisco de Assis Dias Martins JúniorMarcos Daniel Motta Drummond

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/7982

This research focused on the participation of a child diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in soccer training, through an inclusive strategy to improve his experience. The objective was to implement an inclusive strategy for the enhancement of the soccer teaching-learning process in a subject with ADHD. The adaptation of specific methods was used to teach soccer to the child with this condition, given his difficulty in maintaining attention and controlling impulsivity, which can affect his technical learning and sports performance. We worked with an accurately diagnosed child, with evident limiting characteristics to understand instructions and develop technical skills in soccer due to his lack of concentration and impulsivity. The central question was how an inclusive strategy can improve his learning process in this sport. The product of this work was an activity plan that included short sessions, clear instructions and individualized support to maximize their participation and learning. The results demonstrated the effectiveness of the actions developed for learning soccer and also showed the promotion of inclusion of the child with ADHD in sports and social activities.
Cristian Andrés Castro RuedaTránsito MenachoFabian Andrés Contreras JaureguiGiceya de la Caridad Maqueira Caraballo

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/7910

The aim of this essay was to reflect on the transformations that digital technologies have generated in the practice of physical exercise and the role of the Physical Education teacher, mainly in the non-formal sector. Through an epistemological lens, it explores how the use of technological devices, such as smartwatches and monitoring apps, redefines not only physical activity but also the interactions between teachers and students in virtual environments. Drawing from excerpts of three works by different authors, it argues that the technological "device" is not merely a passive instrument but an active agent that modulates the relationship between the body and the environment. The text delves into the hybridization of the physical and digital realms, arguing that this fusion allows for new forms of pedagogical support that transcend the direct supervision of the teacher. Additionally, it highlights the opportunities and challenges arising from the virtualization of training, as well as the need for physical education professionals to acquire competencies in the use of digital technologies. Finally, it emphasizes that this change is not merely technical but involves an epistemological and professional transformation that redefines the boundaries of the professional field, social interactions and motor skills in non-formal Physical Education of the 21st-century.
Daniel Rodrigo Sancio

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/8051

The objective of the present study was to analyze the speed times of high school students in order to establish performance categories. The population considered was 113 students in the second year of high school at the Carlos Díaz educational center, located in the 08-09 district of the Dominican Republic. A random sample of 56 students was chosen: 59% of a male group and 41% of a female group aged 12 to 14 years old. The technique used was direct observation, and the instrument employed was the 10 x 5 test, used in this work to measure speed in the study sample. This test proved to be very reliable according to the Pearson coefficient between the pre-test and post-test phases (r=0.991), results obtained with SPSS version 23. The main findings revealed that the sample obtained a minimum time of 16.16 seconds, a maximum time of 24.14 seconds and a mean of 19.57 seconds. On the other hand, according to the percentiles it was evidenced that 25% completed the test in a time less than or equal to 18.50 seconds, this being the fastest time category. On the other hand, 75% completed the test in a time less than or equal to 20.84 seconds, this being the slow category. Among the main conclusions, it is stated that the test was very effective in determining the speed of the students and that Physical Education can serve as a space for improving this ability.
Ángel Luis Durán

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/8010

Nature Sports (NS) is one of the fastest growing sectors in active tourism. The different scenarios have constraints that determine the quality of the activities, such as planning, safety or specific technical knowledge. This study aimed to analyze the practitioners of these activities, trying to gauge their characteristics, challenges and benefits associated with the practice. It also wanted to investigate how these activities affect local territories in environmental, economic and socio-cultural terms and try to assess their role in the sustainability and development of these regions. The sample consisted of 305 participants, informal and occasional practitioners of nature sports (40.7% female and 59.3% male). The data was collected using an online questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS 29.0 software. The most representative level of education (n=121) was higher education (degree), accounting for 39.7% of the sample, followed by secondary education with 24.9% of respondents. The participants in the study lead an active lifestyle by participating in outdoor sports activities and also mention that they would like to join in nature sports more often. Mountain biking (n=86) is the activity most frequently practiced by men, followed by Trail running (n=64), while for women trail running (n=60) and hiking (n=52) are the most popular activities. Promoting this type of sport is perceived as “positive” or “very positive”, with 85.5% of the sample attesting to this position. Concerning the repercussions of practicing sports in local areas, it stands out that the respondents believe that it promotes the preservation of natural areas.
Pedro BentoStefano GonçalvesLuis Murta

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/7638

This research aims to analyze the applicability of direct assessment of cardiorespiratory performance in elite swimmers in their natural context. An integrative literature review was conducted, with searches in specific databases. The formulation of the question followed the PICO model (Population, Intervention, Comparison, and Outcome), and inclusion/exclusion criteria were established. The research was conducted from May to July 2023, in the Medline (PubMed), EMBASE (Elsevier), and Virtual Health Library (BVS) databases. A total of 943 articles were found after the initial search, of which 16 were included in the review. The analyzed studies demonstrated heterogeneity regarding the genders of the evaluated athletes, with the majority including both genders. Fatigue resistance and swimming technique were frequently investigated aspects. Direct assessment protocols were also discussed, with emphasis on the Breath-by-Breath method using adapted snorkels. Assessing VO2max is crucial for predicting the performance of elite swimmers, but further studies in this context are needed. The limited availability of equipment and its high cost represent challenges for conducting direct assessments in an aquatic environment, underscoring the importance of additional research in this area.
Jonathan Sadrack Amancio da Silva CabralAdalberto Veronese da CostaGlêbia Alexa Cardoso

https://test.efdeportes.com/index.php/EFDeportes/article/view/7752

Adaptive surf would be a mode of surfing capable of providing individuals with cerebral palsy (CP) a very similar experience to conventional surfing. It is believed that regular surfing practice can lead to motor skill development beyond the usual standards for people with disabilities (PWD) diagnosed with CP. Therefore, the aim of this study is to understand how regular adapted surfing practice can influence the life of a person diagnosed with CP. This study features a qualitative literature review approach. With a very limited number of studies, it is possible to assert that adapted surfing can serve as a highly relevant physical activity for this population, as well as being a distinctive alternative sport that offers constant contact with nature. It brings various physiological, social, motor, and mental benefits and serves as a means of raising awareness about inclusion for PWD in society as a whole. It is an important tool to combat stigma and prejudice.
Enzo Aleixo SouzaEmilson Colantonio
