Bicarbonato de sodio y rendimiento en el ejercicio físico: una posibilidad de bajo costo

Resumen

El bicarbonato de sodio es un suplemento nutricional popular y de bajo costo que se utiliza como ayuda ergogénica, con estudios que exploran sus efectos sobre el rendimiento deportivo desde la década de 1930. Se sabe que es un alimento seguro y, por lo tanto, se utiliza tanto en la industria alimentaria como en situaciones clínicas. Ante esta realidad, buscamos destacar el bicarbonato de sodio como una alternativa de suplementación de bajo costo para optimizar el rendimiento en el ejercicio físico. En cuanto al proceso metodológico del estudio, se buscó una investigación integradora con recolección de información en la plataforma Pubmed, en búsqueda de ensayos clínicos controlados aleatorios, publicados en los años 2019 al 2023. Se encontraron 15 artículos relacionados con el poder ergogénico del bicarbonato de sodio en el deporte. con diferentes muestras. Se concluyó que el bicarbonato de sodio mejora el rendimiento en actividades de resistencia muscular en diversos deportes de combate, karate, taekwondo, lucha libre, remo, CrossFit®, en ciclismo común y de alta intensidad, por lo que se convierte en una alternativa de bajo costo y de fácil acceso para mejorar el rendimiento en los deportes.
