Abstract

The Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) 192 was deployed in 2004 in the city of Itabuna with the purpose of providing relief to the population in cases of emergency and emergencies. It currently consists of three vehicles and a motolance and a team of fifty-five professionals. This study aimed to know the profile of care provided by the Itabuna-BA SAMU from January to June 2014. It was a descriptive, exploratory research of a quantitative nature, where secondary data were used from the SAMU medical regulation database 192, considering all services rendered by the service. During this period, 71,598 calls were received for the number 192, of these 58,228 were trotting and 4,202 were attended with the use of vehicles, where the Basic Support Unit was used in 78% of the occurrences; (33.1%) followed by traumatic causes (25.7%), with cardiovascular problems accounting for 30% of the medical conditions and traffic accidents, which corresponded to 48% of the traumatic injuries, in which, in the majority (65%), the users were taken to the Hospital de Base Luiz Eduardo Magalhaes (HBLEM) in Itabuna, which the emergency network has as main contribution. Thus, the research made it possible to evaluate the main health problems addressed, allowing the development of collaborative measures for the planning and organization of the service, besides subsidizing the managers and authorities in the decision making that can contribute to the provision of care.
