Configurational Sociology, Sport and an Analysis Model: Notes to Correlation Readings

Abstract

Sport has become an object of sociological study academically relevant and recognized since the end of the twentieth century. In view of this fact, several theoretical fronts have positioned themselves in the analysis of the relational complexity of this phenomenon, problematizing it around its characteristics in modernity. The present work aims firstly at reflecting on the theoretical constructs of the Configurational Sociology and its contribution to the reading of modern sport and then, to present futuristic perspectives in relation to sport and an analysis model related to the dimensions of sport in contemporaneity. Therefore, this essay highlights the contributions of Norbert Elias' Configurational Sociology to understand modern sport and, subsequently, some incursions that have been built on the future of sport are approached. Lastly, an analysis model is presented to examine sport in contemporary times.
