The other side of the sport: Concussion and the role of Physical Education

Abstract

This review is related to the film Concussion. The objective was to think how the film presents the variety of themes associated with the Physical Education area and the sport. It was possible to select three debates of this movie: a) the impact of the training and the labour load in the professional athletes; b) The relations of power of some sports, its institutions/leagues and the society; c) The interactions between the scientific, biomedical and juridical knowledge in the sport area. This work presents some contributions from the film to the Physical Education teachers practice, because they are commonly in contact with this reality in their contexts.
