Abstract

It is a qualitative research, of the descriptive type, that was based on the bibliographical revision to investigate the aspects of the identity of the teachers of Physical Education. To do this, a search was carried out with the Qualis periodic platform, triennium of 2013-2016 for the Physical Education area, and chose to investigate the journals that qualified A1, A2, B1 and B2 using the following terms: teacher training, identity, teaching and physical education. The search returned with the amount of 74 articles and after reading their summaries the vast majority was excluded, leaving only 5articles that composed the corpus of this research. These studies showed that the professional identity is shaped according to the experiences, beliefs, experiences and challenges of teachers, placing the teacher as the central element of the study along with its challenges, with regard to work space, materials and initial training. As a conclusion, it can be seen that studies that refer to identity point to it as something crucial for the professionalization of the Physical Education teacher, even if their production is scarce.
