Physical activity, aging and fashion: field study with women that work out in a fitness center
Abstract
The population over 65 years of age has been growing in Brazil and in the world, and societies are facing problems that were previously non-existent, such as the increase of elderly people in gyms. In this article we aim to understand the needs within the fashion field of elderly women who practice physical activities in an academy. For this, a field survey was conducted through the use of a questionnaire, with 20 women practicing regular physical activities in a gym in the city of Novo Hamburgo / RS / Brazil. The main results of the research were that few women find it difficult to perform movements and consider themselves physically healthy, and most prefer basic clothes, discreet, comfortable and that can be bought ready and have no interest in fabrics with technology. With this information it is possible to understand somewhat better the needs and preferences of the elderly in relation to the clothes intended for physical activities.
