Abstract

The literature has demonstrated that breast cancer commonly causes great impact on people's lives. These impacts significantly reflect the views of femininity and sexuality of these patients. This study aimed to describe the impact of mastectomy on women's sexuality. It is worth mentioning that the changes in the female body entail changes that require the woman to develop new ways to express their sexuality. You can call this new phase of sexuality restructuring process. This readjustment of meanings and resignified will be important mechanisms to prevent comorbidity in the clinical picture of the patient. The discussions and considerations show that sexuality in women with mastectomies should be the focus of attention of the medical and psychological staff, which is paramount in the monitoring of this aspect, it tends to facilitate the interaction and integration of women. Still, to assign new meanings and understand the very body and feminine identity from the procedures adopted to give it to maintain their interrelations.
