Applied Artificial Intelligence for Predicting Results of the 2022 World Cup Matches
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the predictions of the 2022 World Cup matches by using Artificial Intelligence (AI). The data survey was carried out through three websites that use AI: Invest News, Opta Analyst and Sports Prediction. For a comparison of hits of AI and Human simulators, the predictions available on the websites "Mantos do Futebol" and World Football were used. The Opta Analyst and Sports Prediction simulators were used to estimate the winning team. For this, descriptive statistics was used to analyze the data. It was found that the simulators using AI obtained better score corrections when compared to the human team. The simulators using AI also obtained better results for predicting the winning team with a hit rate of 13.1%. It is concluded that AI showed better results when dealing with score prediction for the 2022 World Cup. This can lead to corroboration of the use of AI for sports predictions, which in addition to a higher hit rate, has other advantages such as ease of use and time optimization.
