Lights and Shadows in the Use of Technology at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

Abstract

The Paris 2024 Olympic Games marked a milestone in the integration of technology in sport. Artificial intelligence excelled in the personalization of training, prediction of results and even in navigation in water sports. The VAR, despite its intention to guarantee justice, generated controversy, especially in the match between Argentina and Morocco. The use of drones generated concern, and a spying incident tainted the competition. Technology is innovating in sport, but it poses challenges. AI offers great benefits, but VAR and drones show the need for clear regulations to avoid abuse and ensure fairness. The Paris Games remind us that technology is a powerful tool, but it must be used responsibly and ethically.
