Abstract

The 2024/25 Champions League revolutionises its format. The traditional group stage disappears and a 36-team league is introduced. Each team will play more matches, which increases the competitiveness and unpredictability of the tournament. The top eight will advance to the round of 16, while others will fight for a place. With more teams and a tighter schedule, UEFA seeks to modernise European soccer and offer more excitement to fans. Predictions will be more difficult, and lower league teams will have more opportunities to shine.
