Abstract

Linguistic diversity is essential not only for communication, but also for language sustainability and the preservation of cultural heritage, community ties, and mental health. Languages also create social connections and inclusion. Speaking multiple languages in multilingual communities promotes understanding and cooperation between cultural groups. This inclusion can build communities and create a more harmonious society. Losing a language is not just about losing words and phrases. The disappearance of a language can affect culture, history, knowledge, and even the environment. Linguistic diversity is part of our cultural and cognitive heritage. Every language carries with it traditions and ways of thinking about the human experience. With so many languages continuing to disappear, we lose words as well as identities, stories, and perspectives, which is why they must be protected.
