Comparação entre diferentes intensidades e volumes no treinamento de força em idosos

Resumo

O treinamento de força acarreta melhora da força muscular contribuindo para amenizar os efeitos deletérios da sarcopenia. Porém, existe uma carência na literatura a respeito da manipulação da intensidade e volume de treinamento adequados para desencadear ganhos de força para idosos. O objetivo desse estudo foi analisar estudos que investigaram a comparação entre prescrições de treinamento de força envolvendo intensidade e/ou volumes diferenciados e seus efeitos nos ganhos de força muscular em idosos. A busca se deu em três bases de dados: PubMed, ScienceDirect, e Lilacs. Foram encontrados 26 artigos que atenderam os critérios de elegibilidade estabelecidos, sendo 13 envolvendo variáveis características do volume e 13 da intensidade de treinamento. Os resultados apontaram que manipulação do volume ocorreu mediante a comparação entre os números de séries e frequências semanais, e da intensidade através da carga suportada, tempo de intervalo e velocidade de execução dos movimentos. Portanto, a presente revisão concluiu que o treinamento de força para idosos apresenta maiores ganhos de força quando são prescritos um maior número de séries e frequência semanal, alta intensidade, tempo de intervalo curto e alta velocidade de execução dos movimentos. Sugere-se a elaboração de trabalhos experimentais envolvendo a investigação sobre a comparação de outras variáveis relevantes para o treinamento e seus efeitos nos ganhos de força em idosos.
