Abstract

The university education requires more and more of the updating of contents, approaches, methodologies and didactic and pedagogical strategies that are adapted to the demands of national, regional and global environments. In this sense, the curricular design is one of the activities that requires more innovation, projecting new future plans that guarantee the integral education of the students. Among the approaches that are currently working the most is interdisciplinarity, based on the collaboration of several disciplines with common objectives that result in the creation of new knowledge. The objective of this paper is to analyze the importance of interdisciplinarity in the university curricular network for the optimization of the teaching and training processes of the student. A theoretical investigation was carried out, by consulting updated bibliographic sources, with the use of historical, systemic and hypothetic-deductive methods. It concludes about the importance and usefulness of the interdisciplinary approach in the improvement of the curriculum, in order to strengthen the processes of university education and complement the teaching practice.
