Circus activities at school: a study with high school students

Abstract

The objective of the present study is to verify the opinion of high school students about a project of circus activities developed in their school. The research is qualitative in nature, of the case study type. The subjects of the study were the students who participated in the project of General Gymnastics and Circumstance Activity developed at the Federal Institute of Mato Grosso do Sul, during the year of 2018. The instrument of data collection used was the interview with semi-structured script applied for six students. It is considered that the circus has become a great ally of school physical education, with a repertoire of contents that may be essential in the educational process, with its own characteristics modalities. The results indicate that the circus activity project allowed the experience of unprecedented experiences for the subjects, consequently it is concluded that the circus activity can provide experiences and unique corporal challenges that influenced the participants to practice outside the school boundaries.
