Trend of growth in speed, strength and resistance in Ecuadorian children aged 8-12

Abstract

The athletic performance control is an essential part of management process, allowing the search of sports talents to establish selection parameters appropriate to contemporary sport demands. Speed, strength and resistance are they decisive physical capacities for sporting success, its control allows the right decisions making. In this sense, the research objective is to determine quantitative and qualitative values of tempos or development rhythms of speed, strength and resistance, in Ecuadorian children between 8 and 12 years of age who begin in sports in Ecuador. Based on a simple random sample, 47 healthy girls of 8 years old, 49 of 9 years old, 85 of 10 years old, 62 of 11 years old and 48 subjects of 12 years of age (total 291 girls) are selected. In the case of male sex, 57 children of 8 years old, 51 children of 9 years old, 120 children of 10 years old, 65 children of 11 years old and 39 children of 12 years old (Total 338 children) are studied. To obtain the most important values, it was emphasized in 90th percentile, obtaining the average values in 5 assessment tests of capabilities and physical abilities, the absolute tempos and relative tempos.
