Futsal Small-sided Games: Comparison Between Activities With and Without Pass Restriction

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the promotion of pass restriction between attackers on the offensive tactical behavior (actions) of the players, in a context of small-sides games of futsal. Two different game settings were analyzed consisting in 2x1+G (two attackers against a defender and a goalkeeper, in half court), without (2x1a) and with (2x1b) the pass restriction between attackers. Participated in the research 59 students, between 9 and 12 years old, beginner level, members of extracurricular futsal courses from 4 private schools in São Paulo. The students were divided within 7 groups, between 7 and 9 students each. The players participated for 3 minutes and 30 seconds in each game setting. The researcher managed the activities during a regular futsal training session of the students. The results showed that the frequency of actions in each game format had statistically significant differences (p <0.05), such as the direction for the rebound and the opening of space for the partner (player without ball), and the execution of passes and 1x1 duels (player with the ball). It indicates that the manipulation of the structures of small-sided games can serve different pedagogical purposes.
