Health education involving men attending bodybuilding gyms
Abstract
The objective of the study is to describe the actions carried out on basic health education involving men attending the bodybuilding academy and to report the experience lived in practice by nursing students. Sixty-one men, regular bodybuilders, aged 18-45 years participated in the study. The activities were developed during the month of March 2015, in the municipality of Feira de Santana, Bahia, Brazil, during the afternoon shift, promoted during a Nursing discipline in the Attention to the Health of Man, Faculdad de Nobre de Feira de Santana, Bahia, Brazil. The study found that even though men attending health centers do not seek the basic health units, they are late in servicing medium and high complexity units. On the other hand, it was verified that they do not have chronic diseases and frequently carry out clinical examinations, favoring the early identification of the diseases and minimizing the health impacts.
