Physical Education in Brazil: historical educational course from 1851 to 2017

Abstract

The article discusses the history of the discipline of Physical Education in Brazil. All these transformations brought aspects for reflection about the discipline, thus revealing new challenges and pedagogical perspectives for the same. As well, it stimulated the critical discussion about the directions taken in recent times. Physical Education as a curricular component, accompanies changes in laws, and must adapt to the changes proposed by political, economic and social changes that require proposed skills, skills and knowledge. The methodology of the study was of the bibliographic review type, being based mainly on laws on the Physical School education. Concluding that even after 160 years of the first proposal of the introduction of EF in Brazilian education, we can reflect on the course it has been taking and the influence that the past still exerts on it.
