Teachers’ perception of gender stereotypes through drawing image

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the perception that teachers from an elementary school towards stereotypes in the use of language and image, in order to reflect on coeducation in the classrooms. For that purpose, teachers with a different use of language (generic and inclusive) were asked to draw a picture of the students playing in the playground. The teachers made drawings of a similar amounts of boys and girls, regardless of the generic or inclusive language, although in both cases, the number of boys drawn was somewhat higher than that of girls. Moreover it were also common to draw girls with skirts and long hair. And as for the activity, soccer has been the most represented game.
