Media and Physical Education: a reading with high school students

Abstract

Considering the necessity of high school students to reflect about physical education and the media, the following research problem raised: which conceptions do high school students have concerning to the possibilities of relation between Physical Education and the media? Thus, we aim to analyze the conception of high school students about the possibilities of relation between Physical Education and the media. The current research is characterized as qualitative of the exploratory type, occurred in a public high school of Santa Maria (RS) from a questionnaire about physical education, media and their relations, the questionnaire answered by 15 students who attend high school. For the data analysis, a content analysis was used. The results bring up different conceptions about the media and physical education, as well as skewed conceptions around the theme. We conclude that there is a necessity to work with such issues, due to the results of the research, and also to comprehend that the media is a means to develop the critical reflection of the students.
