Jóvenes y ejercicio físico: consideraciones, mitos y aplicaciones prácticas
Resumen
Objetivo: El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo contextualizar los aspectos involucrados con respecto a la juventud y la práctica de ejercicios físicos. Métodos: La estrategia de búsqueda de artículos incluyó búsquedas en las bases de datos electrónicas Medline/PubMed, Scopus, Scielo y Lilacs. No hubo fecha límite de publicación, los descriptores fueron utilizados en inglés según el MeSH y en portugués según el DeCS. También se utilizaron libros de texto que apoyan la comprensión de conceptos y su aplicabilidad en el área del conocimiento. Resultados: En la promoción de la salud, el ejercicio es sumamente importante, especialmente durante la niñez y la adolescencia. El entrenamiento de fuerza y/o el ejercicio aeróbico intermitente de alta intensidad pueden usarse para este propósito. El ejercicio, cuando se practica con volumen e intensidad bien controlados y según el grupo de edad, no influye negativamente en el crecimiento. Para que la práctica de ejercicios traiga beneficios al desarrollo de personas jóvenes, es necesario comprender los conceptos y aplicaciones que la incluyen. Conclusión: La ciencia ha avanzado mucho en el área y, actualmente, existen varias herramientas científicamente respaldadas disponibles para promover la práctica de ejercicios entre los jóvenes, de forma segura. Sin embargo, algunas cuestiones que involucran el desarrollo de personas jóvenes y la práctica de ejercicios aún no han sido dilucidadas completamente por la ciencia, por lo que se requieren más estudios sobre este tema.
