Analysis of the Concept of Do (Path) in the Study of Karate in the Contemporary Society
Abstract
This research-reflection work has focused on the analysis of the concept of Do within the martial art of karate and more specifically within the Shotokan style or school, from an axiological and epistemological perspective, framed in a view of the karate practitioner as a walker based on the analysis of the experience, the current cultural component and the problem of motivation (the category of objective value) of the said walkers. This work was carried out under a historical-hermeneutical research approach and it can be concluded that Karate Do cultivates and should continue to cultivate the tradition of monastic exercises from Buddhism, beginning and ending with classes with meditation in an atmosphere of discipline, in a close relationship and bond between teacher and disciple, highlighting the importance of reflectively analyzing said concept of Do (Path) through the Study of Karate in the current social context
