Pedagogical proposals adopted in swimming classes in the municipalities of Jaragua do Sul and Joinville

Abstract

Swimming has shown advances in the area of ​​Physical Education and more and more individuals are seeking their practice with different goals. Swimming is dynamic, extensive and has many possibilities in teaching and prescribing physical exercises. The objective of this study was to verify the pedagogical proposals adopted in swimming classes in the municipalities of Jaragua do Sul and Joinville, as well as to correlate the results with the existing bibliography. This was a descriptive field study, whose instrument used was a questionnaire with closed questions about pedagogical proposals, methodologies used, diagnosis and initial evaluation, evaluation criteria used to define levels, among others. The study was attended by 9 coordinators and 37 teachers who work in swimming academies/schools in the cities of Jaraguá do Sul and Joinville. Data were analyzed using simple descriptive statistics (frequency and percentage). The results suggest that teachers follow pedagogical proposals that are in line with what literature suggests. Most (87%) indicate that skill levels define the content to be proposed. It was concluded that the levels of ability, evaluation and contents are indicative for the definition of the pedagogical sequence.
